The third lap was quite a journey. Two things were really exiting about this lap. First of all the shoe came loose again. Second, the pilot missed a slalom pole, so he decided to go back and try it again. Because of this small detour the third lap took 134.3 seconds. We did however win the “Ocean Explorer” award for our extensive tour of the basin.
The last time before lunch was a real success! We were pretty careful to make sure the shoe wouldn’t get loose again. The WASUB and pilot managed to finish the lap in 71.8 seconds with a speed of 6.8 knots! This was the record of today!
After lunch it was time for our second pilot, Robin van der Sande. He was told not to go too fast, since it was his first run on the altered course with slalom. Still he went quite fast, he sailed with a speed of 6.0 knots and finished the lap in 77.1 seconds.
Later today we are going to the submarine museum with all the other teams. It sounds pretty exciting. The teams get a change to be in a submarine. Tomorrow is another race day and hopefully WASUB will beat the record of 6.9 knots this basin.
